About the founder
Thushari Hewage is the founder and director of Boston Overseas Montessori (BOM). As the founder of BOM, she hopes to bring high quality American education through the Montessori method to the next generation of children in her original homeland, Sri Lanka. Prior to founding BOM, she had accumulated six years of experience in the field of early childhood education in the United States. During that period, Thushari had held various positions in the field, including Lead Teacher at Greater Montessori School in Maryland, USA.
In addition to Thushari’s experience in early childhood education, her expertise in the field is backed by various certifications she has obtained. She holds an Associate Certificate in Infant and Toddler Development from the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies (Barrie Campus) in Maryland. She is also certified in Child Growth & Development, Preschool Methods & Materials, and Infant & Toddler Methods & Materials by Maryland State Department of Education. Additionally, Thushari is also certified in Medical Administration Training & Child Care and in COVID-19 Training by Maryland State Department of Education, and in Health & Safety Basics as well as in Communicating with Children by Penn State Extensions. Furthermore, Thushari is a member of the American Montessori Society.
